Orlando has a social network company too. (Sarasota and West Palm are home to social network companies.) KICKgen.com is a social networking community for martial arts aficionados. New social networks are becoming niche players.
Orlando also is home to Petentials, a social network for pet lovers. Petentials raisied $500K this year.
West Palm is home to Moli. "Moli is designed to appeal to mature adults between 24 and 54. It restricts its membership to those 18 or older. It also focuses on small businesses of under 10 people. It has slightly more than 150,000 members." [TJS]
Last night at the AMA New Media meeting, I met Ron from Neighborhood America, a Naples company that builds social networking sites for corporations and municipalities. Neighborhood America bought Sarasota's MOVO Mobile in Oct., 2006 after it raised private equity in March of 2006 with Startup Florida. MOVO+NA won an ADDY.
